It is a very well made product. Important to use the unbleached filters offered alongside the dripper as I've noticed that the water passes thru quicker than the supermarket brands.

Even tho it seems like all the yt baristas use the plastic one for its thermal properties, i just could not bring myself to trusting that it wouldnt leech out something harmful with the super hot water goin through it daily. So i initially shelled out the extra dough for the ceramic one not knowing there was a steel version, but even with alot of water for the filter prerinse/dripper&server warm up, it just did not get very warm at all even with 75g of kettle water off the boil. and it really seemed like heat was getting sucked out of my brew with the mass that it had. So either i was going to have to waste way more time or water to heat it or just send it back. Luckily even though this one was a bit even more pricey i dont have that problem at all now. I can preheat it very easily and seems like my coffee is more evenly extracted now. Overall couldnt be happier with the metal one. Also this one is waaay lighter than the ceramic version and i dont have to worry soo much about it tipping over and breaking like i did with the first.

I’ve updated my rating to 5 stars. This is a solid product and has withstood the test of time.I was very excited about the idea of this product, it's being metal and silicone. However one thing that the designers did not account for is the pressure buildup of air when using this dripper directly onto a mug. I think this is due mostly to the fact that the product is made with the silicone base which creates an airtight seal. With the plastic or glass drrippers there is air circulation so the coffee simply drips into the mug but with this dripper pressure builds up and coffee floods out of the sides of the silicone base and all over the counter! The only solution to this problem is to elevate the dripper from the mug in someway either using a special stand, or a pair of chopsticks. All of which seems a little ridiculous given the cost of this. I may eventually drill a couple holes in the sides of the silicone, but really, why should I have to? I think this is an example of where a designer designs a particular product for a particular accessory but doesn't think about the average everyday person who is simply going to place this on their mug. I do like the metal and the fact that this product seems like it will last a long time. I know that silicone over time takes on the flavors of whatever is nearby - soap or coffee, so I don't know how long the silicone will last. It's really close to being perfect.

After breaking 3 glass Hario dripper, I finally made the move to stainless steel. The pros? Easy to clean. Industrial-chic aesthetic. But heat retention is poorer. So not the same high quality coffee I’m used to from Hario.That said, I’m happy with the purchase, because I can’t break another dripper.

So much for Japaneese quality I guess. Used only two times before the handle came off. Can't return it because it is outside some ~30 day window for returns. So be warned! The handle seems likely to fall off, and it appears that there isn't any kind of manufacturer warrantee.
