A friend suggested this book, as the advice given there had made the birth of her second child the most beautiful mystical experience of her life, and she had do wished to know its wisdom before having her first child.This book changes my life as a woman, helps me know how to love my baby the right way, prepare to bring him to the World the best possible way and chose the right help.The book is very inspiring and practical and it hugely contributes to health and well-being of women, children and families

This book is seriously a god send! I was terrified of child birth, and now I look forward to it. I’ve never felt so informed and empowered about something so natural. This book is open and honest about what to expect but not in a scary way. If you are going to read one pregnancy book, I think this should be it. I’ve read several, and this one is by far the best. Would make a great gift!Thank you Ina May for all that you do!

I really lolved this book. I would read it every night before going to sleep when I was pregnant with my baby. I had made the decision to go with a midwife from the very beginning and reading this book just made me feel even more comfortable about that decision. The book recounts the true stories of the many different kinds of births that took place at their birthing center and therefore it prepared me and opened my eyes to all the different situations that could happen and what they could do about it. Then they go into the technical stuff later on in the book explaining the research as to why our bodies are capable of delivering a baby without the need of medication and how our bodies can handle a natural birth. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone considering a natural birth.

This book was instrumental in changing the way I viewed labour and childbirth. I feel like this book gave me the knowledge and confidence to have the all natural, med-free childbirth with midwives, that I wanted to have. I recommend this to anyone who is considering an all natural birth. Ina May talks about the importance of the team that surrounds you when you labour and give birth. She is so right! Great resource!

Before reading this book, I was team scheduled c-section all the way. After reading all the empowering stories from dozens of women who have opted for a natural birth, it opened my eyes to other options available and what my body is capable of. Really eye-opening, highly recommended reading in pregnancy. A little hippy-dippy in places but overall great read.

Read this one first. And then don't read anything else. And don't listen to any of the negative birth stories that people in our culture seem compelled to tell pregnant women. (By the way, this seems to be a North American phenomenon. Scaring pregnant women is considered poor manners in other cultures.)Whether you choose a natural birth, home birth, hospital birth, or any other kind of birth, you will be 100% prepared after reading Ina May's book. I honestly wish I hadn't read any other pregnancy books. This is our fifth baby, and I now feel more calm, prepared, and confident about this impending birth than I had last week before reading it.

IMO this is the BEST pregnancy and childbirth book on the market. I buy it for every one of my friends who is expecting. I especially love the positive birth stories in the second half of the book.

This book was amazing! I was considering a natural home birth so I ordered this book and I am soo happy that I did. It was very informative and really shaped the way I viewed birth and helped me feel more prepared and excited to have a home birth. I loved how it explained the benefits of home birth vs. the risks of hospital birth. This book is great, I will be reading it again.
