I have dishers in a variety of sizes for scooping everything from cookie dough to mashed potatoes. A disher is a spring-loaded scoop with a "wiper arm" that sweeps through the cup to release food easily. Dishers are the only kind of scoop I will buy, except for ice-cream scoops. (Do not use a disher to scoop firm ice cream. You might break it.) This OXO brand scoop is my best one. I like the smooth spring action and the black plastic handle. It is proving more durable than some of my others, too.

Love this product, when it stays together! Sometimes when you squeeze the handle, the mechanism pops out and you have to basically fix the handle. Because it works on a little gear mechanism (the round spiky bit in the first pic), there's a piece that will pop out of it and you have to force the piece back into exactly the right spot to get it working again. (It's the straight piece with the spikes in the last pic.) So it loses a star for that—because it happens probably after every 50 scoops or so. (As in, I can make 1 or 2 batches of cookies with no problem, but probably the next time I use it, it'll pop out again at some point.) It's quite annoying, so I do hope they fix the design. That being said, it's really comfy in the hand, easy to clean and works well when it's behaving itself, so it's worth fixing it every so often in my books.

I have always wanted these! I finally treated myself and purchased 3 of these, small, medium and large. They are nice, but only for non-sticky Product .... I made truffles this year and wanted these to help me with the size. Precise measure of scooping was great. However, releasing my truffles was a major “challenge”... went back to my tried, tested and true teaspoon! These look great in my drawer, but I would not purchase again!

I ordered one of these scoops and only used it once before my mother came over, saw it and took it home. Needing another right away, I bought three separate scoops in store and hated every one of them. They were too large, too small, or just poorly constructed. This scoop is too small for cupcake batter, but for cookies it's just perfect. The construction is high quality as well, the handle doesn't slip when it gets greasy and the scoop release is flush to the scoop itself, so all the dough comes right out. No more doughy hands! Keeping the cookies uniform helps to ensure even cooking as well. If you're a baker and you don't have a cookie scoop, you're missing out!

At first this seemed great, but the more I’ve used it, the more it seems to click out of place and get stuck or completely come apart so that I have to try to put it back together. It’s disappointing because it seemed like a very useful tool. I loved that my cookies were all the same size and cooked evenly. I’ve only used it about 10 times.

Initially purchased to make cookies. II wanted a scoop that would make bigger cookies than the small scoop because I wanted to cut down on baking time. I could only put 12 Instead of 15 cookies on a baking sheet, however, I was very happy with the results. I have Also used it to make falafels. Definitely recommend.

If you do a lot of baking, do yourself a favour and buy this. Life is made so much easier when making cookies or muffins with this little gadget. I actually find my cookies bake up with a better, softer texture when i place them on the cookie sheet with this scoop. I will never be without one now. My first one broke after about 6 months but OXO sent me a new one quickly. LOVE IT.
